Hustontown

Hope everyone was out enjoying the beautiful weekend. It was a little cool but at least storm free.

Knobsville United Methodist Church appreciated the nice attendance at the turkey supper on Saturday evening. Thank you to everyone who helped and attended to make it a success.

Kathy Kinghorn of McLean, Va., visited in the Kate Berkstresser home on Sunday afternoon.

Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will sponsor a shooting match on Saturday, February 19, at 1 p. m. Shells will be furnished and prizes awarded. The volunteer firemen will appreciate everyone’s support.

The fire company will also sponsor an open stage on Saturday, February 26, at 6 p.m. The kitchen opens at 5 p.m. Admission is free and there will be good food. The entertainment is great, so why not come out and share your talent of just come and enjoy the talent to others. We look forward to seeing you there.

The Hustontown Fire Co. is still selling Hustontown afghans featuring 11 different Hustontown landmarks. There are three different colors to choose from. More information may be obtained by calling 717-987-3108 or 717-987-3511. They make a lovely gift for any occasion.

The fire company auxiliary is now accepting reservations for banquets, wedding receptions, birthday and anniversary parties. Last minute meals, hall rentals and showers also. They also have a food trailer that can be taken to public sales or any outside events. More information may be obtained by calling Shirley Tice at 987- 3913. The auxiliary members are reminded that annual dues are now payable.

Household Hint: Rust – remove rust from nuts, bolts or nails, etc., by placing them in a glass jar, covering them with vinegar, sealing jar and letting stand overnight. Rusty tools can be revived in same manner, soak in pure vinegar for several hours. Just rub away rust. Change vinegar if it becomes cloudy before rust is softened.
