Relay For Life Meeting Held

By Carol Singel

The Fulton County Relay For Life Committee meeting was held at Fulton County Medical Center January 24, at 7 p.m. There were 14 people present. A vote was taken, and the 2011 Relay for Life will be held this year at McConnellsburg High School. A big thank-you to the Fulton County Fairgrounds Association for all of the support given in the past years when the Relay was held there. A thank-you also goes out to Mc- Connellsburg Volunteer Fire Co. for all of its support in the past years.

This year’s Relay For Life kickoff will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 13, at the American Legion in Mc- Connellsburg. A “Voice of Hope” speaker for the American

Cancer Society, John Segneri, will be the first speaker. Teresa Leedy from Shippensburg will also be speaking. Everyone is welcome to attend. Cancer survivors and caregivers are especially encouraged to attend. After the kickoff there will be a cake walk and light refreshments will be served.

There will be team pack- ets available for returning or new teams. Luminaria forms will be available in honor and in memory of loved ones. Again this year each team or team member will receive credit for luminaries collected. Luminarias will be accepted up to the week of and the day of Relay, but those proceeds will go to the general event fund.

Daffodil Days are coming soon. Flowers will be delivered on March 17.

Following the kickoff, there will be a “stop and shop” held from 3 p.m. t 4 p.m. to benefit the general event fund for this year. There will be several vendors, including Avon, jewelry, Longaberger, Mary Kay, Pampered Chef and Tastefully Simple.

The next committee meeting will be March 21 at 7 p.m. at Fulton County Medical Center. All are encouraged to attend and share ideas for the planning of the Relay For Life event May 20 and 21.
