Hoover of the Pennsylvania State Police reported that four McConnellsburg youths have been apprehended and charged with a total of 15 burglaries and larcenies committed in Fulton County during recent weeks.

Navy Lt. Edgar H. MacKinlay, son of Dr. and Mrs. E.H. MacKinlay of McConnellsburg, left from Mayport, Fla., on February 9 aboard the radar picket destroyer USS Turner for a seven-month cruise in the Mediterranean.

Charles L. Reeder, 26, of State Line, Franklin County, burned to death last Monday night when he was pinned in the flaming wreckage of his truck after a collision with another truck. Reeder is a brother to Mrs. Ron DeShong of Needmore.

Marriage licenses: Ronald Richards of McConnellsburg and Carol F. Gordon of Needmore; Charles R. Ray of Mc- Connellsburg and Nancy Mellott of Fort Loudon.

Postmaster George Paul reminds residents living in the area included in door-to-door mail delivery service to register their names and street numbers at the post office before changeover is made.

Three Republicans announced their candidacy this week, seeking nomination in the primary election on May 16. They are Marlin C. Shimer of McConnellsburg for prothonotary and Carl G. Hann and Ira C. Lake, seeking nomination for associate judge of Fulton County.

A record crowd attended World Day of Prayer services held in the McConnellsburg United Church of Christ on Friday, February17. The goal to double the attendance of last year was realized.

Amanda Jane Humbert of Big Cove Tannery and Carroll Glenn Wright of Hagerstown were united in a doublering ceremony on January 29, 1961.

Congressman J. Irving Whalley attended a presidential prayer breakfast on February 9 at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C., with approximately 12,500 present.

Miss Esta June Souders of McConnellsburg became the bride of Raymond R. Shoemaker of Fannettsburg on Saturday, December 24, at Cito Methodist Church.

Births: a son to Mr. and Mrs. Walter Thomas, Harrisonville, on February 14; a son to Mr. and Mrs. Harry Mellott Sr., McConnellsburg, on February 15; a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Souders, Fort Loudon, on February 15; a son to Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Swope of Spring Run on February 16; a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Norman Guyer, Willow Hill, on February 18; a son to Mr. and Mrs. Jack Sharpe of McConnellsburg on February 18.

Mr. and Mrs. Norman Baker have purchased the Sunshine Diner at the “Y.”

Mr. and Mrs. D. Stanton Fleck of Windber, Pa., have announced the engagement of their daughter, Janet Virginia, to Kenneth Earl Gordon, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Kenneth Gordon of McConnellsburg.

Nathan B. Hixson of Crystal Spring and Harold E. Deshong of McConnellsburg were elected delegates from Fulton County for the southeastern Pennsylvania artificial breeding cooperative at the annual members’ meeting last Friday at the McConnellsburg Firehall.

The annual financial statement of the Fulton County general fund for the year 1960 showed total receipts at $154,447.40, total expenditures at $135,431.70.

Deaths: Camilla Whitfield, formerly of Hustontown; Earl E. Ott of Detroit, Mich.; Sarah G. Madden of Three Springs.
