FR Students Of The Month
Dylan DeShong, an eighth- grade student at Forbes Road High School, has been named Student of the Month for December by the high school faculty. Students are selected by their teachers based on attendance, grades, citizenship and being a positive leader in the classroom.
Dylan currently serves as secretary of his class and is in Student Council and SADD. He plays Cardinal basketball, baseball and soccer. He is enrolled in the academic curriculum and says math is his favorite subject. His teacher, Mr. Whitsel, says, “If I were to pick a model student, it would be Dylan Deshong. He is hardworking, respectful, polite and very bright. He comes to class everyday eager to learn and keeps me on my heels to challenge him because he picks up new material quickly. I am glad he is being recognized for his exemplary behavior.”
Dylan’s parents are Chris and Lori DeShong, and he has an older sister, Chelsea. In his spare time he enjoys playing sports and listening to music.
Corri Parsons, a sophomore at Forbes Road High School, has been named Senior High Student of the Month for December by the high school faculty. Students are selected by their teachers based on attendance, grades, citizenship and being a positive leader in the classroom.
Corri is a member of the National Honor Society, FCCLA, Student Council and is vice president of her class. She also serves as treasurer of the Student Council. She is a member of the Lady Cardinals basketball team and plays field hockey and softball as well. One of Corri’s goals is to win the districts in field hockey. She is enrolled in the academic curriculum and says that Algebra II and family consumer science are her favorite classes. Her teacher, Mrs. Vollbrecht, says, “Corri's ability to pick up new concepts is outstanding. Although she likes to get good grades, she also wants to understand the material and is willing to think things through even when they are difficult, which makes her an excellent mathematics student. She’s a great peer tutor who never submits anything but her best work and encourages others to do the same.”
Corri’s parents are Troy and Sharon Parsons, and she has a younger sister, Christina. In her spare time she enjoys playing sports. She is on the Fannett-Metal softball summer league team and also plays for the Mc- Connellsburg Bi-Valley girls traveling team. Her plans for the future are to attend a good college and graduate toward the top of her class.
