Probably the most important action taken at last week’s meeting of the Forbes Road School Board

– at least according to the students – was a change in the dress code. The directors ruled that all students and all school personnel will be permitted to wear dress slacks or pantsuits at anytime during the school day.

Two McConnellsburg business places – the A&P Super Market in the South Penn Shopping Plaza and Art’s Bowling Center on South Third Street – were broken into some time on Monday and Tuesday. The two burgled businesses reported a cash loss of approximately $550. Property damage at the two properties was estimated at $1,855.

Marriage licenses: Martin Brown and Mary Jane Cutchall, both of Hustontown; Robert Eugene Adamson of Indiana, Pa., and Linda Diane Frye Lowman of Creekside, Pa.; Harold Albert Batdorff of McConnellsburg and Linda Jane Mellott of McConnellsburg.

Engagement: Mr. and Mrs. Robert Souders wish to announce the engagement of their daughter, Cheryl Mae, to S.Sgt. Willard F. DeShong Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Willard F. Deshong Sr. of Needmore.

Births at the Medical Center: a son to Mr. and Mrs. Roy S. Pittman Jr. of Big Cove Tannery on January 28; a son to Mr. and Mrs. David Smith of Mercersburg on January 28; a son to Mr. and Mrs. George Keefer of Hancock on January 30; a son to Mr. and Mrs. James Garland of Hancock on January 31; a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Bishop of Mc- Connellsburg on February 1; a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. James Coffman of Harrisonville on February 2; a son to Mr. and Mrs. William Trail of Needmore on February 3; a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Edward Thomas Jr. of Robertsdale on February 5.

Mr. and Mrs. P. C. Mellott are enjoying a winter vacation in sunny Florida.

The Mellott Store on North Second Street was recently purchased by Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Earley, who will take over the business next week. The former owners were Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Mellott.

Sgt. William H. Woodal, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold R. Woodal of Needmore, is a member of the 436th Military Airlift Wing at Dover AFB, Del., that has received the U.S. Air Force Outstanding Unit Award.
