Visiting with the Grissingers on Friday evening were Donnie and Panda Horne and Brenden, Holden and Camden Lupey.

Despite the cold temperatures, many local folks enjoyed the Ice Fest in Chambersburg this weekend.

Tom and Mamie Streightiff visited with Tim Streightiff in Washington, D.C., on Sunday.

Walnut Grove Senior Youth enjoyed the winter jam tour concert held at the Bryce Jordan Center on Friday evening. Those attending were Dezaray Swope, D. J. Stains, Dustin Barr, Shaine Goshorn, Kevin, Lynette, Kelsey and Brianne Fleck and Melanie and Cody and Dison Myers. Many familiar faces from the Orbisonia area were also attending the concert.

Pittsburgh Steeler fans are gearing up for the big game on Sunday. Everywhere you look the black and gold is making a show. Enjoy the game.

Congratulations to Larry and Penny Grubb on their beautiful celebration Saturday evening. The Mount Union Country Club served a delicious meal.

There will be checker night tournaments at the Orbisonia UMC Outreach Center on Saturday, February 26, and Saturday, March 26, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The event is open to anyone.

The community breakfast at the Orbisonia UMC Outreach Center will be served February 12 and 26 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

A pesticide update meeting will be held at the Huntingdon County Extension Office on February 10 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The Angel Wings Ministry Sweetheart Ball and Valentine’s Dinner will be held on February 12 at the Orbisonia Lions Club Building at 6:15 p.m., with dinner followed by a silent auction, DJ and dancing. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Childcare will also be provided for a donation at the Outreach Center.

Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will hold shooting matches at the firehall every Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. until further notice. This Saturday, February 5, will be a 410 shoot with a quarter of beef as the prize. Individuals must shoot all rounds to qualify.

Shade Gap Volunteer Fire Co. continues to hold its hoagie sale fundraiser event every Friday. Orders may be placed or picked up at the firehall.

A basket bingo will be held on Sunday February 27, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the Hustontown Firehall. Doors open at noon and the cost is $20 for 20 games. The event will be Kelsey Lilley’s senior project, and proceeds will be donated to the Joshua Timothy Wilt Jr. Scholarship Fund for students attending Forbes Road. Tickets can be bought in advance from Kelsey Lilley or Donna Clark and will also be sold at the door.

Folks who complained about the grass growing last summer and mowing would probably give anything to be able to fire up their lawn mowers and cut some grass about right now. Spring is less than two months away but the light at the end of the tunnel seems mighty dim yet with the ice and snow arriving weekly. It sure does make everything look nice and clean.

Don’t forget that special someone on Valentine’s Day, Monday, February 14.
