A group that fills and sends care packages to Fulton County soldiers stationed overseas has sent seven packages to Fulton County’s enlisted men and women since it first organized in late November 2010.

We Care was created by Glenda Shafer, Flower Basket & Gift Box owner; Jack Rhodes, Camp Sinoquipe director; Martin Seylar, McConnellsburg Boy Scout Troop 43 scoutmaster; Ted Hall, post commander, Mc- Connellsburg American Legion Post 561; and Lucille Worthing.

The American Legion and Sons of the American Legion donated money for food and supplies for We Care’s first mailing. McLaughlin’s Drug Store, Family Dollar and Lincoln Way Market donated food for the packages. Marie Shimer, Joanne Mellott and Terry Booth of Girl Scout troops 80456, 80458 and 1597 made Christmas cards for the packages, and Boy Scout Troop 43 packed and shipped them.

We Care plans to send more packages at Eastertime. Anyone interested in helping the group fill and ship the care packages should contact Martin Seylar at 717-491- 9726. Tax- deductible cash donations can be sent to We Care treasurer Alice Walker, 3264 Waterfall Road, Waterfall, PA 16689.
