Pa. Jobs Picture Improves For Fifth Straight Month

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) – Pennsylvania’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate is down slightly to 8.5 percent in December, the state’s fifth straight month of gains.

State Department of Labor and Industry figures released Thursday showed last month’s rate had fallen by a tenth of a percentage point from in November .

Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate from the recession peaked at 9.3 percent in July.

The number of unemployed Pennsylvanians is down by 10,000 for the month, to 538,000.
