Dasher Announces Candidacy

SPECIAL TO THE NEWS

Irvin Dasher Irvin Dasher Local farmer Irvin Dasher has announced his candidacy for the office of Fulton County commissioner. He will run on the Democratic ticket.

Dasher was born and raised on a beef cattle farm in Howard County, Md.

After graduating from Atholton High School in 1972 he attended Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, and the University of Maryland at College Park. He served a four-year apprenticeship with Electricians Local 24 IBEW and has been employed for the past 35 years in the Baltimore/ Frederick area, recently working on the design and construction of the Fire Safety Management System for the Baltimore Metro Subway.

Dasher moved to Fulton County after purchasing a farm in Ayr Township in 2002. He and his wife, Joy, have a daughter, Stephanie, and a granddaughter, Madison.

“As in my previous platform I am in favor of true openness in government and access to information, collecting taxes fairly and spending revenue wisely. Mistakes by the current commissioners, including several at the ongoing courthouse renovation project, could have been avoided had a comprehensive construction plan been developed and publicly discussed, revisions made and the final plan roperly implemented. The citizens of Fulton County deserve better leadership for their hard-earned tax dollars.”
