A full busload of people left McConnellsburg early Tuesday to attend the inauguration of President elect Ronald Reagan in the nation’s capital. The day is expected to be one of great rejoicing with the ceremonies coinciding with the release of the 52 American citizens who have been captive in Iran for the past 44 days.
John J. Kelso, a fire company director and longtime member, was honored at the McConnellsburg Fire Co.’s banquet last Wednesday as the Fireman of the Year.
Blue Ox Market on Monday became the third business in as many years to close its doors at the Penn’s Village Shopping Center because of financial difficulties.
Betty Berkstresser of Harrisonville is a three-time firstplace quilt winner at the State Farm Show. Betty’s winning quilt has 30 trapunto blocks that took an estimated 10 hours each, 22 half blocks, involving about five hours each, and 60 trapunto leaves around the edge that took about two hours each.
The cold weather of the past several weeks broke on Monday of this week with temperatures climbing into the high 40s on Tuesday.
