The Willing Workers of St. Paul Lutheran Church held their holiday dinner on Monday, January 17, in the social room with 14 attending. They will be making their annual vegetable soup this week.

The area schools were closed a day last week for the first time this school year because of icy roadways.

Public Opinion weekly honor roll student-athletes were Kayla Chilcote, Southern Fulton; Chris Everts and Tanner Henry, Forbes Road; for basketball.

Congratulations and good luck to Jensen Boehme and Chase Novak on winning in the Southcentral District Elks Hoop Shoot recently. They will compete in March at State College in the state competition.

Eli Blumenthal will begin his studies at DickisonCollege in Carlisle. He is the son of Terri McGarvey Blumenthal and Michael Blumenthal, formerly of here and now of Carlisle. Terri is employed with Dickison.

The Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers will face off Super Bowl Sunday. This will be Pittsburgh’s eighth trip to the Super Bowl.

Bob and Donna Garlock recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary.

Sympathy goes out to the families of Rae Bookheimer Mellott and Georgia Deshong. Both women passed away last week after battling cancer.

Lydiah Truax celebrated her sixth birthday on Saturday. Her parents, Ed and Tracey Truax, and sister Mariah and little friend Katie enjoyed a day of bowling on Saturday in Chambersburg.

Shopping in our small town on Saturday were Emma and Pauline Colton of Nottingham, England, who were vacationing on the East Coast and staying at Whitetail Ski Resport with their children, Adam, Alfie and Henry.
