Get well wishes to Aaron and Michael Snyder, sons of Mike and Mandy Snyder. Both boys had tonsillectomies on Thursday. Other than being a bit quieter at the house, both boys are doing great.

Kenny, Kristi and Jase Watkins were recently visited by Jase’s great-grandma Carol Vincent of North Carolina.

Congratulations to Carolyn Detwiler on her recent graduation with a computer science degree from Allegheny College of Maryland.

Roger and Pat Ramsey enjoyed a family gathering at the home of Terry and Trudy Fix of Hustontown on Saturday evening. Their son, Travis Fix, is visiting from Florida for a few days.

Buzz and Bea Covert, Tasha, Shaine and Kean Goshorn, Tammy Grissinger, Joan Holtry, Travis and Angela Madden, Julie and Ben Roher, and Heather Riggerio recently enjoyed a cruise on the Carnival Destiny to the Jamaica and Cayman Islands. They left 80 degrees plus temperatures to return to Pennsylvania on Thursday with temperatures in the teens.

The Angel Wings Organization will sponsor a Sweetheart Ball and Silent Auction on Saturday, February 12. Shade Gap Volunteer Fire Co. has begun its annual hoagie sale fundraisers. Orders may be placed or picked up on Friday’s at the firehall.

Visiting recently with the Steve and Karen Grissinger family were Travis Madden, Ramon Martin, Tom and Mamie Streightiff, Edsel Hamman and Brent Carlson.

Travis and Tristen Hall visited with the Grissinger family on Wednesday evening. Tristen is now the owner of two bunnies, thanks to his Pappy Zeger.

Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will be holding shooting matches at the firehall every Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. until further notice. First and second prizes are awarded; 12, 16 and 20 gauge shells are provided.

A food auction will be held at the firehall on Friday, January 28, beginning at 6 p.m. The fire company appreciates any and all support.

Mark your calendars for pesticide update trainings for 2011. Southern Huntingdon County High School will host its meeting on January 27 from 7 to 9 p.m. There will be pesticide update meetings held at the Huntingdon County Extension Office on February 1 from 7 to 9 p.m. and on February 10 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Temperatures in the 30’s will feel like a heat wave after the last few days. Hopefully the groundhog will predict an early spring next Wednesday.
