Boehme, Novak Headed To State Hoop Shoot

On January 16, 2011, at Cedar Crest High School in Lebanon, Pa., Jensen Boehme, daughter of Christy and John Boehme of McConnellsburg, and Chase Novak, son to Sandy and Jim Novak of McConnellsburg, placed first in the South Central District Elks Hoop Shoot competition.

Jensen, in the 8-9- year-old girls division, shot 11 out of 25 and Chase in the 12-13-yearold boys division, shot 22 out of 25 to attain the 2011 championship title. They will represent the South Central District and the Chambersburg Lodge in the Pennsylvania state competition on March 5, 2011, at State College.

Donovan Garlock, son of Holly and Jason of McConnellsburg, placed fifth in the 8-9-year-old boys division; Kierstyn Morton, daughter of Kelly and Allen Morton of Needmore, placed second in the 10-11-year-old girls division; Brycen Hohman, son of Hubert and Kristi Hohman of Hustontown, place fourth in the 10-11-yearold boys division; and Olivia Mottern, daughter of Carolyn and Brian Mottern of Warfordsburg, placed second in the 12- 13-year-old division.

This year a booster and a good luck page have been added to the state program. Anyone wanting to wish Jensen or Chase good luck by placing an ad or becoming a booster in the program should mail the ad or booster name, along with a check, to Steven Lucas, State Hoop Shoot Chairman, RD 1 Box 593, Tyrone, PA 16686. Cost to be a booster (your name) is $5 and $100 for the Good Luck ad. Deadline for ads is Febuary 16, 2011. Please make checks payable to PA Elks State Association.
