Chuck Streightiff was honored on Friday evening for his 35 plus years of service with Huntingdon Borough and as chief of police. The celebration was held at the Standing Stone Golf Course facility.

Walnut Grove adult Sunday school class held its annual after-Christmas dinner at Sunny Ridge Restaurant, Shade Gap, on Saturday evening. Everyone enjoyed the meal and the white elephant auction that followed.
Immanuel Bible Church will host a family fun night on Sunday, January 30 beginning at 3 p.m. Bring your favorite board games and come out for an afternoon of fun, food and fellowship.
The Angel Wings organization will sponsor a sweetheart ball and silent auction on Saturday, February 12. There will be door prizes, a beef and pork buffet meal, and dinner and dance music. Also provided will be childcare for a donation to benefit the Orbisonia UMC youth church camp costs (directed by Krista Book Scott). Shade Gap Volunteer Fire Co. has begun its annual hoagie sale fundraisers. Orders may be placed or picked up on Fridays at the firehall.

Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will host an open stage event on Saturday, January 22, beginning at 6 p.m. The kitchen will open at 5 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come and share your talent or enjoy the talent of others.
Shooting matches will be held at the firehall every Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. until further notice. First and second prizes are awarded; 12-, 16- and 20-gauge shells are provided.

Southern Huntingdon County High School will host its meeting on January 27 from 7 to 9 p.m. There will be pesticide update meetings held at the Huntingdon County Extension Office on February 1 from 7 to 9 p.m. and on February 10 from 1 to 3 p.m.
