Card Party An old-fashioned card party at the Mc- Connellsburg Alumni & Friends Community Building (old MHS) starting at 7 p.m., on Saturday, January 29. Bring a covered dish to be shared with players.
Alumni Gym Open The alumni community gym in Mc- Connellsburg will be open from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for anyone who would like to get some exercise, walk or run. This is a free activity and open to all ages. If the Central Fulton School District is closed because of the weather, the gym will not be open. Any questions, please call Kathy J. Shooting Stars Registration Shooting Stars registration will be held at Needmore Bible Church fellowship hall on the following Mondays from 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., February 7, 14, 21, and 28. Banner carriers are needed, any age. Registration is for majorettes ages 3-23. Practice will start for all the registered members on Monday, March 7. Little League Registration Fulton County Little League will hold registration for the 2011 season at the Chamber of Commerce office located in the Antietam Iron Works Building (old dog bone factory) in McConnellsburg. The dates for registration: January 28 - 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.; January 29 - 9 to noon; February 4 - 5 to 7:00 p.m.; February 5 - 9 a.m. to noon. Boys and girls can register for T-Ball (5 – 6 yrs.), Farm League (7 – 8 yrs.), and Little League (9 – 12 yrs.). Registration fee is $25 per child. First year players in the league need to bring a copy of birth certificate. Do not need to live in the county to play in the Fulton County Little League. Sweetheart Ball The 27th annual Beta Sigma Phi Sweetheart Ball and auction will be held Saturday, February 12, at McConnellsburg American Legion. Salad bar will be served at 6 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m. Dancing will follow with music provided by D.J. Shane Imler of “Northeastern Entertainment.” Tickets are $35 per couple and $20 for singles and may be purchased from any sorority member or by calling 717-485- 5930 or 717-294-6091. This event will benefit two young pediatric cancer patients: Sean Williams and P.J. Stanley.
Open Stage Hustontown Fire Co. will sponsor an open stage Saturday, January 22, at 6:00 p.m. Kitchen opens at 5:00 p.m. Admission is free.
Shooting Match Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will sponsor a shooting match January 22 and 29 at 1:00 p.m. Shells will be furnished for 12-, 16- and 20-gauges. Prizes will be awarded for first and second place.
FR Baseball Registration There will be baseball at Forbes Road this spring. Registration for the Forbes Road Youth Baseball and Girls Softball League will be held on January 20, 24 and 26, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Hustontown Firehall. Registration fee is $25 per player for Little League and Girls Softball; $35 per player for Teener & Pony. Additional registration for Girls Softball, Teener & Pony will be held in February. T-ball players must be 5 years old before May 1. If your child is a new player bring a photocopy of birth certificate to be retained by the league for age verification. If you are interested in helping the league in any way, please let us know. Volunteers are needed for coaching staff, concession stand, umpires and ground and equipment maintenance. Snowtubing Fulton County Center for Families will be hosting an evening of snowtubing at Whitetail Ski Resort on January 28 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. This event is part of the Fatherhood Initiative; dads attend for free. Hall Walking McConnellsburg SADD will be offering hall walking at McConnellsburg High School starting at 5:30 p.m., to 7:00 p.m. Hall walking in the high school will be every Tuesday and Thursday with the last day on Thursday, March 24. If the school closes because of the weather, hall walking will be cancelled. Park in the parking lot and not along the building. If you bring your children, please supervise them. Please sign in when you come and sign out before you leave. Jogging may only be done between 6:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on the outside lanes. Any questions, please call Kathy J.
