Walter R. Lynch

Walter Reed Lynch, 85, McConnellsburg, died Monday, January 10, 2011 at Fulton County Medical Center.

He was born December 1, 1925, in Big Cove Tannery, the son of the late George and Cora Shaw Lynch. He was married to the late Hazel Seiders Lynch.

He was employed by Dale Keebaugh as a delivery man. He was a 50-year member of McConnellsburg Volunteer Fire Co., serving as assistant fire chief for 35 years. He was instrumental in the building of the Fulton County Sportsman’s Fish Nursery and served as a manager in the Fulton County Little League. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying spending his time both hunting and fishing.

He is survived by one son, Larry R. “Pete” (husband of Pamela) Lynch of McConnellsburg; two grandchildren: Jessica Harman and Cody Lynch, both of Mc- Connellsburg, and two greatgrandchildren: Katelyn and Kaden Harman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Cora Lynch; his wife, Hazel Lynch; three brothers: John, Willard and Charles Lynch; and five sisters: Helen Waltz, Emma May Keefer, Betty Everrts and Mary Ellen Truax, Margaret Lynch

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 14, 2011, at 1 p.m., at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home Inc., in Mc- Connellsburg, with visitation one hour prior to the service. There will be an evening of visitation Thursday, January 13, 2011, at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. For the convenience of friends the doors to the funeral home will be open from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Interment will be at Laurel Ridge Christian Church Cemetery in Big Cove Tannery.
