Dave McClure is a patient in the Pittsburgh hospital with open heart surgery. Please keep him in your prayers.

Orbisonia United Methodist Church has started its Friday night jam at the Outreach Center beginning at 6 p.m. There will be a food stand and music and it is open to the public.

Immanuel Bible Church will be hosting a family fun night on Sunday, January 30 beginning at 3 p.m. Bring your favorite board games and come out for an afternoon of fun, food and fellowship.

Orbisonia United Methodist Church has resumed its Saturday community breakfast at the Outreach Center from 8 to 10 a.m.

Visitors this week with Tom and Mamie Streightiff were Chuck Streightiff and Kenny and Jase Watkins. While the big boys were cutting wood, little Jase was enjoying being spoiled by Grandma Mamie.

The Angel Wings organization will sponsor a sweetheart ball and silent auction on Saturday, February 12. There will be door prizes, a beef and pork buffet meal and dinner and dance music. Also provided will be childcare for a donation to benefit the Orbisonia UMC youth church camp costs (directed by Krista Book Scott). There will be a winter jam concert at the Bryce Jordon Center on January 28. A total of 10 bands will perform for a ticket price of $10.

Shade Gap Volunteer Fire Co. will begin having its annual hoagie sale fundraisers this week. Orders may be placed or picked up on Fridays at the firehall. Some local deliveries are set for each week, so check in for your area.

Visiting recently with the Steve and Karen Grissinger family were Buzz and Bea Covert, Tom and Mamie Streightiff, Brent Carlson, Travis Madden, Kean Goshorn and Donna Locke.

Steve and Karen Grissinger attended the PA Farm Show early on Sunday morning. By noon the Farm Show was a full house. Terri Grissinger will attend with students this week.

Mark your calendars for pesticide update trainings for 2011. Southern Huntingdon County High School will host its meeting on January 27 from 7 to 9 p.m. There will be pesticide update meetings held at the Huntingdon County Extension Office on February 1 from 7 to 9 p.m. and on February 10 from 1 to 3 p.m.
