The Fulton County Medical Center Angels Relay For Life team recently received the American Cancer Society’s (ACS) State Corporate Excellence Award for its efforts with Relay For Life. ACS representatives Erin Geiser and Connie Woodruff made the presentation to the team at a ceremony in the Medical Center’s main lobby.

“The Fulton County Medical Center has, for years, gone above and beyond in this community to be wholeheartedly devoted to fufilling the mission of the American Cancer Society. Their staff has embraced our “get well, stay well, find cures, and fight back” slogan in all ways possible. From sponsoring Relay For Life, to financially backing the survivor dinner, and hosting ACS programs and services, the Fulton County Medical Center fully embodies all aspects of excelling as a corporation in partnership with the American Cancer Society,” said Geiser.

The Cancer Society has also announced that the 2011 Relay For Life is “Back at the Track.” Scheduled for May 20 and 21 at the McConnellsburg High School track, the Relay theme this year is “Hit it out of the Park.” In keeping with the Relay’s baseball theme, the FCMC Angels will serve hot dogs, hamburgers and apple pie at the annual cancer survivor dinner, which precedes the Relay event. For more information about attending the survivor dinner, please contact event chairs Michele Seburn 717-485-1060 or Carol Singel 717-485-9142.

The annual Relay For Life kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. February 13 at the McConnellsburg American Legion. Relay Committee members invite you to join them not only for the 2011 campaign’s kickoff, but also at a new kickoff activity this year — Stop N’ Shop at local vendors who will set up inside from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

“The American Cancer Society is very excited with this change of venue to the Mc- Connellsburg High School track. We are appreciative of the Central Fulton School Board for allowing us to have the Relay “Back at the Track!” We feel this move will breathe excitement into the event and increase the number of teams and participants,” said Geiser.
