Holiday season is over now back to school and back to work. We were grateful for the nice New Year’s holiday weekend weather. We wish everyone a good year in 2011.

Hustontown Volunteer Fire Co. will sponsor a shooting match Saturday, January 8, at 1:00 p.m. Twelve-, 16- and 20-gauge shells will be furnished and prizes will be awarded.

Remember to mark your calendars for the open stage at the firehall on Saturday, January 22, at 6:00 p.m. The kitchen opens at 5:00 p.m. Admission is free. Everyone is welcome to come and show your talent or enjoy the talent of others. We look forward to seeing you there.

If you need anyone to prepare and serve banquets, wedding receptions, birthday parties, etc., call Shirley Tice at 717-987-3913. The Hustontown Fire Co. Ladies auxiliary’s goal is to aim to please. They have many repeat customers, and we also do meals on short notice.

Hustontown Fire Co. will sponsor a food auction on January 28 at 6:00 p.m. The kitchen opens at 5:00 p.m.

Visitors and dinner guests in the home of Kate Berkstresser on New Year’s Day were June and Bob Bennett of Carlisle, Harvey and Pat Berkstresser, and Herbert and Tammy Berkstresser.

Harold and Martha Berkstresser called in the same home on Monday.

Sorry to hear John Gallaher isn’t doing so well. We send recovery wishes to him. Also, we hear Albert Wible is on the ill list. Get well wishes to him also.

Belated happy birthday wishes to Yvette Miller on January 2; Clem Malot, January 3; LaRue Cunningham, January 4; Nora Boyer, January 7; Olivia Mills, January 11; and Judith Rusack, January 11.

Sunday evening dinner guests in the home of Herbert and Tammy Berkstresser and Aaron Koons were Herbert and Tabitha Berkstresser and children of Mc- Connellsburg and Kate Berkstresser.

Household Hint: Deodorize and clean your microwave every now and then thoroughly. When it is off and cold, wash the inside surface with a solution of four tablespoons baking soda per one quart water.
