Virginia M. Rintoul
Virginia M. Rintoul, 93, died at her home at Solomons Nursing Center in Solomons, Md., Monday, December 20, 2010.
She was born Sunday, February 25, 1917, in Bethel, Pa., to Harry Lee and Estalene Manning. She lived in Hancock until she married Army 2nd Lt. William Rintoul February 4, 1945 and began the adventure of a lifetime as a military wife. Shortly after they were married, he received orders and off they went to Korea. After many years of travelling as a military family and after his retirement, the family settled in Odenton, Md., where they lived for 35 years.
In 2001, she moved to New London, N.H., to be near her daughter and sonin law. In April 2010 she moved with her daughter, son-in-law and granddogs back to Maryland where she lived at The Hermitage of St. Johns Creek, Solomon, Md. She was so happy to be back in Maryland.
She was a lifelong member of Hancock Presbyterian Church. She was a charter member of the Retired Officers Wives Club in Fort Meade, Md. She enjoyed golf and played with a group of lady friends well into her 80s.
She is survived by her daughter, Jenny Lee Dodd; her husband, Peter, Solomons, Md.; son Thomas Lee Rintoul, his wife Elaine and their two children; grandchildren: Cory Rintoul, Lubuck, Texas, and Casey Rintoul, Pasadena, Calif., along with granddogs: Sophie, Oliver and Wolfgang. She will be sadly missed by her loving family and friends at Lyon Brook in New London, N.H., Summercrest in Newport, N.H., and Solo-mons Nursing Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Lee and Estalene Manning; her husband, William; sister Pauline; and brother Eugene.
Services were held Thursday, December 23, at Grove Funeral Home, Hancock.
