James M. Figard

Saxton, 49

James “Slope” M. Figard, 49, Saxton, died Saturday, December 18, 2010, at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus.

Born March 2, 1961, in Huntingdon, he was a son of Marcia (Lynn) Allison and husband John R. Allison, Sparks, Md.; and Emmerson S. Figard, Saxton.

In addition to his father, mother and stepfather, he is survived by a brother and two sisters: Troy D. Figard and Robin Black and husband Jake, all of Six Mile Run; and Sherri L. Pinder and husband Brian, Physville, Md.; four nephews, two nieces, two great-nephews and one great-niece; three uncles and an aunt: Howard Lynn and wife Joan and Dean Lynn, all of Saxton; George Lynn and wife Charlotte, Wells Tannery; Esther Burkett and husband John, West Newton; and Gloria Miller and husband, Charles, New Paris.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fred and Zella Lynn and Robert and Eva McElwain.

He was a member of Saxton First Church of God and also belonged to the Saxton Sportsmen’s Club.

He loved music and his family.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 22, at Akers Funeral Chapel, Saxton. Pastor Charles Riley officiated. Burial was made in Fockler Cemetery, Saxton.
