’90 A Fort Littleton man died last Saturday, December 22, in Altoona General Hospital from injuries in a one-vehicle accident that morning along U.S. Route 522 near Shade Gap. Police said that Phillip Seville, 22, Fort Littleton, died in the Altoona Hospital from injuries suffered in the accident. Seville and his passenger, Michael Blattenberger, of Burnt Cabins, were taken to the hospital in Huntingdon, and Seville was then transferred to Altoona. Blattenberger remained a patient in Huntingdon Hospital on December 26 where he was listed in satisfactory condition.

Fulton County Commissioners Wednesday gave final approval to a 1991 county budget which calls for a 2.25-mill increase in real estate taxes, raising the county’s millage rate from 10.75 to 13 mills.

Fulton County residents who participated in capping exercises for the August class of Franklin County Area Vocational Technical School’s Practical Nursing Program were: Cindy Drawbaugh, Burnt Cabins; Jill Elvey, Needmore; and Barbara Kling, Burnt Cabins.

Shelly Parsons of Forbes Road, who set a school record with 50 goals this season, was named the field hockey Player of the Year recently by the Chambersburg Public Opinion.

Marla McElhaney became McConnellsburg’s all-time leading female scorer and surpassed the 1,000 rebound mark as the Spartans trounced Southern Huntingdon in a non-league game December 20. McElhaney scored 31 points to give her 1,617 for her career, surpassing Kim Spriggs’ mark of 1,615.

Births at the Medical Center: a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Robison of McConnellsburg on December 14; a son to Mr. and Mrs. Stepheno Alfeo of McConnellsburg on December 16; a son to Mr. and Mrs. James O’Neal of Mercersburg on December 17; a son to Mr. and Mrs. John Carbaugh of Mercersburg on December 18; a son to Mr. and Mrs. Kirk Powers of Hancock on December 19.

Mr. and Mrs. Karl Barnett of Hustontown are proud to announce the engagement of their daughter, Karla, to Howard Mellott, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Mellott of Hustontown.

Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Ward of Warfordsburg were recently honored with a surprise celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary held at the senior citizens’ center in Warfordsburg. The Wards were married November 17, 1940, in Lyons, N.Y.
