A winter snowstorm hit the East Coast on Sunday from North Carolina to the New England states, closing airports and cancelling the football game in Philadelphia between the Vikings and Eagles. Raleigh, N.C., saw its first white Christmas in history. Other records for snowfalls in the South were broken too.

Jeremy McGarvey and friend Vivian Hsu of Philadelphia visited relatives here over the holiday. They are both MD’s and furthering their medical education at the University of Pennsylvania.

Michael and Danielle Mc- Garvey Wagner of Kirkland, Wash., enjoyed Christmas with family members in this area over the Christmas holidays.

The descendants of Harold and Irene Hall held their annual Christmas dinner in the Fair Ridge Assembly of God Church in Shade Gap on Saturday.

Florence Fix held her Christmas with her family on Thursday in the social room where she resides.

Visiting with Wilbur and Alma Anderson for an overnight stay recently where their son, Roy, and wife Susan of Pittsburgh and children. Alma returned home with them for a short visit.

Jordan and Emile Ott visited with their parents, John and Pam Ott, over the Christmas holiday.

Thanks to all the Christmas carolers in the area doing a good job on their caroling and thanks to the Lions Club, churches and other organizations that gave out fruit and other care packages for Christmas.

Sympathy goes out to the family of Melvin Powell, who was killed last week in a logging accident.

Helen Overly remains a patient in Fulton County Medical Center after breaking her hip recently in a fall at her house.

Kim Seiders and Missy Vogt met with their former classmate, Terri McGarvey Blumenthal of Carlisle, last week in Chambersburg for brunch and to catch the latest news.

Congratulations to Steven Weller and Hilary Tice on their marriage in Jamaica on December 18. Attending at the wedding were Lee and Shirley Tice, Steven’s sister Joni Weller Dunkle, and Hilary’s friend Toni and Kelly Howell, who were married on November 15 in Hagerstown.

Rodney and Dot Kelly recently visited with Rodney’s stepmother and husband, Ruby and Donald Riddle of Baltimore.

Sean and Holly Deshong Madden and children of Georgia visited with Holly’s parents, Scott and Susan Deshong, and other relatives over the holidays.
