Keefer Not Running For Commissioner
Bonnie Mellott Keefer, chair of the Fulton County commissioners, announced Tuesday that she will not be seeking re-election in 2011. “We have a great team of county workers, and together we have accomplished a lot. I am happy with the state of county government as it is now and believe that it is time to move on to other things. I am not retiring. I am re-tooling, Keefer said.”
Keefer also stated that she wants to assist whoever is elected commissioner to help them become acclimated to the job and to make the transition a smooth one. In an effort to accomplish that, she has compiled a packet of information for the incoming commissioner( s).
At the end of her current term as commissioner, Keefer will have served the county of Fulton a total of 21 years – one year in the probation office, 12 years as county treasurer, and eight years as commissioner. “I am blessed to have had the opportunity to work with and for some wonderful people throughout the years. I want to thank the voters who allowed me to serve them, and I want to thank my co-workers who made my job a pleasant one. May God bless each and every one of you.”
