Miss Maude B. Ott has been called to Altoona because of the serious illness of her sister, Mrs. George Knotts.

Death: Mrs. Lottie Funk of Kansas City, Mo.

David H. Bratton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bratton of McConnellsburg, has reported for duty at the Naval Air Station at San Diego, Calif.

Announcement has been made of the engagement of Lula Star to Alton J. Ritchey.

Miss Ruth L. Roettger of McConnellsburg has been awarded a certificate of merit for having served 10 years as the local representative of the Weather Bureau of the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Cpl. Richard L. Matthews, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Matthews of McConnellsburg, has been listed by the War Department as missing in action in Korea since November 30.
