’90 Judge John Walker gave court approval on December 18 to the sale of land by the Forbes Road School District to Dallco Industries Inc. through the Fulton County Industrial Development Association. The district was seeking court approval for the sale of 2.59 acres of land located behind the Dallco sewing plant in the village of Hustontown to Dallco for possible future expansion.

J.W. Bishop of Warfordsburg, who underwent heart transplant surgery in September, is expected to return to school at Southern Fulton after the holidays. He is an eighthgrader at the school.

Judge Walker is expected to rule this month on motions filed by the attorney for Winford “Bud” Melvin Jr., Cumberland, in connection with his recent sentencing on charges related to the shooting death of his stepdaughter and the wounding of his wife and stepson on July 16, 1989.

Philip Lake, 11-year-old son of Eugene and Myrtle Lake of Harrisonville, was discharged form Milton S. Hershey Medical Center December 13, where he had been a patient since December 6, 1990. He is suffering from acute leukemia. He will need to receive chemotherapy as an outpatient three times weekly for the next several weeks.

JLG Industries recently shipped three telescopic boom lift platforms to support Operation Desert Shield efforts in the Mideast. It is expected that the machines, with a 40- foot platform height, will be utilized by the Air Force’s Red Horse Squadron, a civil engineering group.

Birth at the Medical Center: a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. William Smith of McConnellsburg on December 10.

Anne Marie Clare Books and Eric Shawn Hollinshead were united in marriage October 27 at Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren. Parents of the couple are Jerry and Mary Books and Sherwin and Betty Hollinshead.

Jennifer Hartzler and Rene Clugston were united in marriage October 5 at the Lighthouse Community Church, Maysville, W.Va. The bride is the daughter of James and Lizzie Hartzler, Burlington, W.Va., and the groom is the son of Warren and Doris Clugston, McConnellsburg.

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Millersburg was the setting for the September 15 ceremony uniting Christine L. Hamilton and Terry Lynch. Parents of the couple are Mrs. Eveline Hamilton of Millersburg and the late George Hamilton III and Mr. and Mrs. Willard Lynch of McConnellsburg.

Lisa Carriero and James Skiles were united in marriage October 20 at St. Luke’s Roman Catholic Mission, Mercersburg. The bride is the daughter of Daniel and Rita Carriero of Needmore and the groom is the son of Frank Skiles and Jean Skiles of McConnellsburg.
