McConnellsburg girls varsity soccer team held its annual season party/awards night last Wednesday in the home-ec room, given by their coach Toby McGarvey and the Booster Club. A decorated cake for winning the ICC championship was a highlight of the celebration.

Sympathy goes out to the families of Thelma Patsy Souders, Violet Witter, Veryle Hann and Ann Stevens, who all passed away last week.

The family of Guy and Wanda Truax held their Christmas celebration on Saturday in the Pleasant Ridge Church of the Nazarene dining hall. Around 65 family members were present.

Congratulations to Frankie Plessinger for winning his first Late Model championship at the Hagerstown Speedway in 27 years. He lost it last year by a mere one point. He started his career racing with a practice session in Tom Peck’s race car.

McConnellsburg middle and high schools held their annual snowball dance on Saturday.

Public Opinion weekly honor roll student-athletes were Chelsie Eader of Southern Fulton and Valerie Green, McConnellsburg, both for basketball.

Re-Creation performed its Christmas show on Saturday night and Sunday in Cito Methodist Church to a full house. The show was great. A local man, Ryan Chamberlain, is touring with the group.

Congratulations to Sheral High on recently passing her GED exam.

The Eagles Club held a Christmas party for children on Sunday, with 98 attending, and, of course Santa Claus gave out the gifts.
