Everyone is busy getting ready for the this special Christmas holiday. It is great to know we are celebrating a great occasion – the Savior’s birth.

It was great to fellowship with a covered-dish meal at Knobsville United Methodist Church. Also great to have the folks from Fairview United Methodist Church join us.

The Christmas Eve worship service at Knobsvlle United Methodist Church will be at 8:00 p.m., Friday evening and also at Fairview United Methodist Church at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will sponsor a hog shoot on January 1 at 1:00 p.m. There will be 11 regular rounds to qualify for the hog shoot. Various meat prizes will be given away. Shells will be used. No guns with less than a 640 choke and no sleeved guns will be permitted. Shells will be furnished. Guns may be checked the day if in question.

Hustontown Fire Co. and Ladies Auxiliary want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a safe, happy and healthy new year. We wish to take this time to also thank the fire company folks for all their work and effort to service and support the community all through the year. We wish them all a Merry Christmas and a great year in 2011.

Cards for a Cause: A great way to recycle old Christmas cards. A home for abandoned, abused and troubled children recycles cards every year. To donate your cards mail to St. Judes Ranch for Children, 100 St. Jude’s Street, Boulder City, NV 89005.

Household Hint: If you recycle bows for holiday gifts, you may find them a little squashed when you take them out of a storage box. A handheld hair dryer set on high heat can perk them up and make them reusable again.
