Cory Gress and Dr. Brent Carlson will continue to head the Central Fulton School Board in their respective capacities of president and vice president as a result of action taken last week.

Prior to holding their monthly board meeting on Tuesday, December 7, the board conducted its annual reorganization meeting to determine who will lead the board during 2011. Gress and Carlson got a unanimous nod of approval from fellow board members.

In addition to conducting a nearly hour-long executive session to review personnel issues, Alex Serrano of McConnellsburg was added to the district’s professional substitute list after having completed an emergency certification process through Tuscarora Intermediate Unit #11.

Patti J. Miller from Needmore and McConnellsburg resident Diane L. Harr were approved to serve as substitute nurses. Both motions were pending the receipt of Miller’s and Harr’s necessary clearances.

District Superintendent Dwayne Northcraft was granted full authorization by the board to study student enrollment trends from prior years as well as project enrollment for the upcoming 2011-12 school year. Furthermore, Northcraft will also be delving into past, current and future curriculum offerings; studying professional staffing needs; and make appropriate staffing, curriculum and program recommendations to the board.

Pending the receipt of credentials, Brenda Gladfelter, Mc- Connellsburg, will be added to the list of substitute van drivers.

Amendments were made to a contract between the district and transportation contractor Chyrel Foster regarding mileage verification for Route #016. As a result, the contract stipulates Foster’s daily rate was reduced to $128.39 between August 25 and October 17 as well as October 20 through November 8. The rate was again changed to $132.65 for October 18 and 19.

Beginning retroactive to November 9, the daily rate for Route #016 was increased from $128.39 to $134.01 as a result of adding additional students to the bus roster.

The board entered into a temporary contract with Sandy Deck Transportation for the #017 van route to the Everett/Bedford area. The daily rate was set at $198.52 until the route is properly bid.

Building and grounds supervisor Brent Seville has prepared a list of district property that has been held in storage and is no longer deemed useful. As a result, the district will be advertising a supervised “garage sale” in the maintenance shop on December 20 and 21.

The district approved the submission of the Early Head Start refunding application. The application includes a total of $369,145 for base program funding and an additional $9,229 for training and technical assistance.
