Isaac T. Everts Sr.
He was born December 17, 1916, in Big Cove Tannery, the son of the late Jacob and Pearl (Diehl) Everts. He was married to Leona Lake Everts on May 4, 1946.
Early in life, he was a farmer in the Fort Littleton area. He was employed by Valley Transit Mix, a division of Valley Quarries Inc., as a mechanic until he retired. He served in the United States Army from 1942-1945, taking part in the invasion of Omaha Beach in the 741st Tank Battalion as part of the first wave of the invasion.
He is survived by his four children: Shirley (wife of Ross) Gordon of Needmore; Charlotte (wife of Charles) Hess of St. Thomas; Ted (husband of Carol) Everts of Chambersburg; and Bonnie (wife of Randy) Miller of St. Thomas; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-granddaughters; two stepsons: Donald (husband of Marna) Lake of Big Cove Tannery; and Harvey (husband of Shelby) Lake of Chambersburg; six step-grandchildren; 15 step-great-grandchildren, and seven step-great-greatgrandchildren; and by his long time companion, Jane Manley of Needmore.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Pearl Everts; his wife, Leona Everts; three brothers: Lloyd, Robert and Jacob Everts; and five sisters: Alice Tewell, Hazel Pittman, Daisy Truax, Jean Crawford and Nellie Leab.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 8, 2010, at Antioch Christian Church in Big Cove Tannery. Interment was held at Antioch Cemetery. Rev. Floyd Meyers officiated.
