Robert C. Barnhart Sr.
Robert Clyde “Bob” Barnhart Sr., 90, Hagerstown, Md., died Wednesday, November 24, 2010, at Washington County Hospital.
Born September 27, 1920, in Buck Valley, Pa., he was the son of the late Clyde L. and Nora Hope Barnhart.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Marie Barnhart, who died December 7, 1997.
He graduated in 1938 from Hagerstown High School.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy on the USS Crux.
He was employed by the Western Maryland Railroad, retiring after 42 years.
He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Surviving are two daughters: Sandra M. Simpson of Adelphi, Md., and Shelley J. Mathias, Catlett, Va.; one son, Robert C. Barnhart Jr., Hagerstown; seven grandchildren, and two greatgranddaughters.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 27, at Minnich Funeral Home, Hagerstown. Rev. Eric Norgard officiated. Burial was made in Rose Hill Cemetery. Graveside military honors were conducted by Washington County Amvets Post No. 10.
