Special Advent Services

The congregations of Mc- Connellsburg Lutheran Parish are pleased to announce several special services for the upcoming Advent and Christmas season.

Three special midweek Advent services will be held on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. and rotate among the three churches of the Parish. The theme of these special services this year will be “Advent Preparations,” with the message each week featuring a portion of Luke 1 and the events that led up to the birth of Jesus Christ. The services will be held on December 1 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Mc- Connellsburg; December 8 at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, rural Mercersburg; and December 15 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Big Cove Tannery.

All three churches will have their own Christmas Eve activities and services on Friday, December 24. Mt. Zion, Mercersburg will have a special Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion worship service at 7 p.m. St. Paul’s, Big Cove Tannery, will have a special Christmas Eve program by the Sunday School department, beginning at 7 p.m. St. Paul, Mc- Connellsburg, will have its annual Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion service at 9 p.m. and will feature special music from the St. Paul Choir, under the direction of Mrs. Lindsay Martin.

The McConnellsburg Lutheran Parish consists of the Lutheran congregations of St. Paul Lutheran Church, McConnellsburg; St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Big Cove Tannery; and Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Mercersburg. The parish is served by The Rev. Christopher W. Martin and is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Conference & Ministerium of North America (ELCM).
