McConnellsburg Man Jailed After Fight

Fifty-three-year-old John Joseph Downey of McConnellsburg was sent to the Franklin County Prison on Thursday, November 4, in connection with an argument that occurred at 334 Woodside Drive, McConnellsburg.

Downey was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Carol Jean Johnson on charges of simple assault and harassment. His bail was set at $15,000.

The charges stem from a noontime argument between Downey and Susan Kaye Hargis, 44, also of Mc- Connellsburg. Downey is accused of striking Hargis in the left eye. In turn, Hargis allegedly struck Downey, leaving a small scratch on his nose and breaking his glasses.

State police have also charged Hargis with harassment and mischief through Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott.
