Beams Set On Northbound Lane of Gem Bridge


Work continues last Friday morning on the replacement of Gem Bridge on Route 522 south between Big Cove Tannery and Needmore with the placement of concrete beams on the northbound lane of the highway. A single-span, pre-stressed concrete spread box beam bridge is under construction to replace the 80- year-old bridge that crosses Licking Creek. Lobar Site Development of Dillsburg, Pa., is the general contractor for the $2.1 million project that began this spring and is expected to be completed in May 2011.
