Pastor Resigns Over Missing Money
SWISSVALE, Pa. (AP) – A priest who pastored a suburban Pittsburgh parish for 16 years has resigned over accusations that he took money from the church.
Roman Catholic Bishop David Zubik isn’t specifying the amount of money missing from Word of God parish in Swissvale. The bishop say the matter has been turned over to “civil authorities’’ and a spokesman from the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office confirmed the prosecutors are meeting with church officials this week.
The Rev. Francis Drabiska’s resignation was announced in a news release and a letter from the bishop that was read at Masses over the weekend.
Drabiska could not immediately be located for comment Monday. Drabiska has been priest since 1976.
