Veterans Day Services Nov. 11

An officer in the U.S. Army will give the keynote address at this year’s Veterans Day obeservance that takes place Nov. 11 at the Fulton County Courthouse in Mc- Connellsburg.

Col. Rodney D. Fogg, a student at the Army War College in Carlisle, Pa., will speak at the 11 a.m. cerermony honoring military veterans.

During his 23 years of service, Fogg has been assigned to a variety of units, including the 101st Airborne Division and the 160th Special Operations. His deployments include Somalia, Haiti and two stints in in Iraq. His second assignment in Iraq was as commander of the 17th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, where his unit provided logistics support for all operations in northern Iraq, an area the size of Pennsylvania.

Fogg lives in Carlisle with his wife, Janie, and daughters Rachel and Katie, college students, and Erin, a sixth-grader.

Also participating in the annual ceremony are the Fulton Honor Guard, master of ceremonies and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post Cmdr. Stewart Copeland; Pastor Christopher Martin, minister at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Mc- Connellsburg, who will deliver the invocation and benediction; and the combined bands of Mc- Connellsburg and Forbes Road high schools

Veterans Day observances are sponsored each year by Bishop- Raker VFW Post 655 and American Legion Post 561. Next Thursday’s program will be followed by light refreshments at the VFW, 524 East Poplar Street, McConnellsburg.

If it rains, organizers say the Veterans Day program will be held inside at the VFW.
