Southern Fulton couldn’t find its rhythm Monday evening against Meyersdale, who clinched three consecutive sets by the score of 25-21, 25-15 and 25-16. Whitney Ritz led the Lady Indians with five kills, five blocks, seven service points and two aces. Teammate Abby Hawkins added 10 assists, and Masey Brown tallied five kills, seven service points and two aces. Ashley Sigel rounded out the non-league match with 10 digs, and Cierra Covalt followed with six digs.

Fannett-Metal 1

Having lost earlier in the 2010 fall season to Fannett- Metal, McConnellsburg managed to pick up wins in three sets last Tuesday for a 3-1 Sideling Hill League victory over the Tigers. Emily Watkins led her Spartan teammates with 19 kills, five blocks and nine digs. Teammate Rikki Green followed with 11 kills and 11 blocks, while Valerie Green added six kills, 30 assists, 13 digs and three aces. Jess Nero and Marleigh Jennings had 12 and 14 digs, respectively, and Nero also contributed three aces.

Chestnut Ridge 3

Southern Fulton 0

Masey Brown led her teammates from Southern Fulton with 17 service points, 15 digs, four blocks and four aces during a disappointing 3-0 loss to Chestnut Ridge last Tuesday. Whitney Ritz added five kills and two blocks, while Abby Hawkins and Ashley Sigel contributed eight assists and seven digs, respectively.

Northern Bedford 0

Southern Fulton’s Kelsey Truax, Abby Hawkins and Masey Brown combined for 32 services points last Thursday to lead the Lady Indians onto a 3-0 sweep of Northern Bedford. Truax also had eight digs, and Hawkins tallied 10 assists. Whitney Ritz totalled four kills, and Ashley Sigel added four kills, three aces and seven digs.

First-place Chestnut Ridge swept the Mc- Connellsburg Lady Spartans for the second time during the 2010 season last Thursday. Emily Watkins totalled eight kills for McConnellsburg, who also got 12 assists and seven digs from teammate Valerie Green. Rikki Green added four blocks, and Jess Nero and Kelsey Ramsey had six and five digs respectively.

Mercersburg Academy 0

McConnellsburg’s winning record improved to 12- 4 last Friday after the Lady Spartans downed Mercersburg Academy in three straight sets for the 3-0 non-league victory. Valerie Green totalled nine kill assists and six digs during the match, while Emily Watkins added two kills, two blocks and 12 aces. Meanwhile, Rikki Green contributed five kills and two blocks. Southern Fulton’s 16- game losing streak came to a halt on Monday with a decisive 9-2 Sideling Hill League victory over Everett. Cody Burgoyne led the Indians with two goals, and teammates Macey Hollenshead, Tyler Trail, Matt Garland, Chase Horton, Josh Voight, Taylor Bohrer and Carter Black each finished with one goal. Horton also had two assists, and Bohrer added one. Goalkeeper Courtney Strait tallied 10 saves during the match.

Forbes Road 3

Hyndman 2

With two seconds left on the game clock, Forbes Road’s Dakota DeShong scored to push the Cardinals ahead of the Hyndman Hornets by the slim margin of 3- 2. DeShong finished the Sideling Hill League match with two goals, and Chase Shaw had a goal as well. Teammates Casey Wade and Casey Covert both finished with assists. Goalie Tanner Henry picked up the win with four saves.

Northern Bedford 5

McConnellsburg 0

Northern Bedford outshot the McConnellsburg Spartans 36-2 on Monday and easily took the Sideling Hill League match by the uncontested score of 5-0. Spartan goalie Dillan Hollinshead racked up an amazing 29 saves during the game.

Forbes Road 2

Belleville Mennonite 0

Forbes Road picked up a win over Belleville Mennonite last Friday and earned a spot in upcoming District 5- A playoffs. Dustin Sheffield and Donovan Bricker connected for goals for the Cardinals, while Chase Shaw finished with an assist. Tanner Henry finished out the Sideling Hill League match with two saves in goal.

Forbes Road 2

McConnellsburg 0

Forbes Road’s season record jumped to 8-7 last Wednesday with a 2-0 Sideling Hill League win over the McConnellsburg Spartans. Donovan Bricker and Chase Shaw both contributed goals during the Cardinals’ victory, while teammates Dakota DeShong and Philip Dodson added assists.

Southern Fulton 2

Matt Garland and Chase Horton both scored goals for the Southern Fulton Indians, who fell to the Fannett-Metal Tigers 8-2 last Wednesday. Indian goalkeeper Courtney Strait made 14 saves during the Sideling Hill League match.

Tussey Mountain jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead and cruised onto a Sideling Hill League win over the Mc- Connellsburg Lady Spartans last Tuesday. Spartan goalkeeper Sarrah Pollock blocked eight shots during the match.

Chestnut Ridge 0

McConnellsburg jumped out to a quick two goal lead last Thursday and cruised onto a Sideling Hill League win over Chestnut Ridge. During the 2-0 victory, Libby Strayer scored both goals on assists from teammate Sara Kendall. Sarrah Pollock picked up the win in goal with seven blocked shots.

West Branch 1

The McConnellsburg Lady Spartans managed to put three penalty shots in the net in sudden death overtime to put them ahead of West Branch on Monday. In clinching the 2010 Inter- County Conference title, Nikki Fleming scored a goal in the opening half on an assist by Libby Strayer. Goalkeeper Sarrah Pollock helped keep the Spartans in the game and especially during sudden death, blocking all three penalty kicks. Pollock finished out the match with 13 saves.

Mercersburg Academy 2

Forbes Road’s final game of the 2010 season ended on a high note for Megan Keller, who racked up three goals during her team’s 3-2 win over Mercersburg Academy last Tuesday. Keller’s final goal came with 5:25 remaining on the overtime clock. Kaili Hockensmith and Kelsey Lilley both had assists during the game.
