Honor Society Holds Food Drive
Southern Fulton National Junior Honor Society recently held a food drive for the Fulton County Food Basket. The Food Basket is a nonprofit human service agency that provides food, in emergencies, to the needy in Fulton County. Families in need are referred to the Food Basket by other human service agencies or churches in the county. Those referred are screened for eligibility in accordance with the rules of the Food Basket and its regulating agencies. When the need is established, families may receive three times per six-month period.
The homeroom that brings in the most items is given a pizza party by NJHS. This year the competition was so close that more homerooms were chosen to receive the reward. In the junior high, (grades 7-9), Mr. Hollenshead’s homeroom brought in 191 items and Ms. Mackle’s homeroom had 184 items. The senior high was lead by Mrs. Layton’s homeroom with 157 items and Ms. Hartman’s homeroom with 148 items.
The total amount of items collected was 1,320, which more than doubled last year’s total of 625 items. NJHS wishes to thank all who helped with this successful service project.
