The Forbes Road Lions Club’s annual Peace Poster Contest has been completed and Aaron Schepis, a sixth-grade student at Forbes Road, is this year’s winner. Aaron’s poster is among more than 350,000 entries submitted worldwide in the 23rd annual Lions Internaitonal Peace Poster Contest. The Forbes Road Lions Club awarded Aaron $75 for first place. Second-place winner was Kristina Parsons who received $50 and Matt Brown received $25 for third place. Each of the other 26 sixth-grade students received a $5 bill for participating.

Lions president Mike Keebaugh said he was impressed by the expression and creativity of the students at the elementary. “It is obvious that these young people have strong ideas about what peace means to them. I’m so proud that we are able to provide them with the opportunity to share their visions.”

Thanks to all students who participated; to Mrs. Black, Forbes art teacher; Mr. Swope, Forbes elementary principal; the sixth-grade teachers and other staff members for their cooperation in this project.
