SPECIAL TO THE NEWS

After serving three months in Hancock, Sister Jessica Manning has transferred to another area. Sister Caitlyn Byers has now joined Sister Krystyna Hales as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Before coming to Hancock, Sister Byers spent the first 13 months of her mission in Kent Island, Md., Petersburg, W.Va., and Mc- Connellsburg.

Sister Byers’s home is in Cedar City, Utah. She has one younger sister and one younger brother, who is serving a mission to Nobosibirsk, Russia. She completed the first three years of her secondary education at Southern Utah University, majoring in English with an emphasis in creative writing.

At home, Sister Byers found employment in childcare for the Utah Shakespearean Festival. She also worked in the Southern Utah University bookstore, in shipping and receiving. Her interests include singing, playing piano and travelling. She enjoys reading classics, historical fiction and young adult fiction. She has written poetry and a couple first drafts of a novel.

After completion of her 18-month mission, Sister Byers will finish her degree and possibly go on to earn her master’s. She plans to write young adult fiction and hopes to one day marry.
