McConnellsburg Spartan goalkeeper Dillan Hollenshead racked up 25 saves on Monday during a 1-1 tie against the Hyndman Hornets. Tyler Green scored for the Spartans during the opening period of the Sideling Hill League game on an assist from Ramez Ehsas.

Northern Bedford 1

Forbes Road 0

Northern Bedford scored in the opening half and slipped by the Forbes Road Cardinals on Monday by the narrow score of 1-0. Forbes Road goalie Tanner Henry totalled six saves during the Sideling Hill League loss.

Fannett-Metal 2

Southern Fulton 1

With Fannett-Metal leading by two on Saturday, Southern Fulton’s secondhalf comeback was too little to late for the Indians. Dropping the game by the narrow score of 2-1, Southern Fulton’s lone goal came from Indian Tim Ray. Goalkeeper Courtney Strait posted 14 saves in goal during the Sideling Hill League game.

Everett 1

McConnellsburg poured in three unanswered goals during the first period of last Wednesday’s Sideling Hill game and cruised onto a 5-1 win over the Everett Warriors. Hunter Miller, Jesse Swope and Casey Randler each had a goal, and Bo Wilson finished with two goals. Swope added two assists, and Tristin Deneen and Paul Hock each contributed one assist. Alex Keaton had three saves in goal, while Nick Daniels added two saves.

Chestnut Ridge 2

Forbes Road 0

Chestnut Ridge scored a goal in both periods for the 2- 0 Sideling Hill League win over the Forbes Road Cardinals last Wednesday. Tanner Henry made four saves in goal for the Cardinals.

Jenna Hollenshead racked up a second-place finish overall during Southern Fulton’s Inter-County Conference against Mount Union and Bellwood. Hollenshead’s time last Tuesday was recorded at 21:45, while Amy Bard finished in third with a time of 23:42. Macey Hollenshead (24:26) and Lacey Beatty (25:00) were recorded at fourth and fifth place, respectively, and Mariah Hill finished in sixth with her time of 25:37. Taelor Morton grabbed a seventh-place ranking with her time of 25:47.

Mount Union 27, Bellwood 29

Josh Voight garnered a third-place finish last Tuesday and was placed the highest out of his Southern Fulton Indian teammates, who defeated both Mount Union and Bellwood. Voight finished the meet with a time of 19:24, while J.C. Munson was fourth overall with a time of 19:57. Briar Kirk placed fifth after recording a time of 19:58. Meanwhile Zane Baker (20:46) and Tim Ray (21:02) finished in ninth and 10th place, respectively.

Forbes Road 4

Belleville Mennonite 1

Kaili Hockensmith led the Forbes Road Lady Cardinals offensive effort with three goals during a 4-1 win over Belleville Mennonite last Thursday. Kesley Lilley had a goal and an assist, while Sammie Clippinger and Megan Keller posted two assists and one assist, respectively. Goalkeeper Jess Gearhart picked up the shutout and Keystone League victory with six blocked shots.

Southern Huntingdon 1

Forbes Road connected for three goals during the opening period last Tuesday and rolled to a 4-1 Keystone League win over the Southern Huntingdon Lady Rockets. Sammie Clippinger had two goals for the Cardinals, who also received goals from Megan Keller and Kelsey Lilley. Kaili Hockensmith finished with three assists. Goalies Jess Gearhart and Leah Summers recorded four saves and two saves, respectively.

St. Maria Goretti 0

After a slow first half, the McConnellsburg Lady Spartans dumped in three goals following the halftime break last Thursday to down St. Maria Goretti by the final score of 3-0. Libby Strayer tallied two goals for the Spartans, who also received a goal from Nikki Fleming. Nikki McQuade added an assist. Goalkeeper Sarrah Pollock managed eight saves in goal for the shutout.

Berlin 3, McConnellsburg 2

Berlin slipped by the Mc- Connellsburg Spartans in double overtime last Tuesday, clinching the non-league game 3-2. Nikki McQuade and Libby Strayer both had goals for the Spartans, and Nikki Fleming tallied two assists. Goalkeeper Sarrah Pollock was handed the win after making 11 saves in goal.

Southern Fulton avenged an early season loss on Monday with a decisive 3-0 sweep of Hancock, Md. Cierra Covalt produced 10 digs and 16 service points for the Lady Spartans during the nonleague victory, while teammate Kelsey Truax followed with seven digs, eight service points and four aces. Whitney Ritz racked up 13 kills and three blocks, and Ashley Sigel and Abby Hawkins totalled six kills and 18 assists, respectively. In addition, Jenna Palmer contributed three aces, and Macey Brown had nine service points.

McConnellsburg grabbed the first two sets last Thursday evening against Southern Fulton before moving on for the 3-1 Sideling Hill League win. Emily Watkins led her Spartan teammates with 22 kills and added five blocks, seven digs and three aces. Rikki Green tallied nine kills and three blocks, while Valerie Green had five kills and 31 assists. Jessica Nero led her team in digs with 17. Southern Fulton Lady Indian Abby Hawkins posted 14 assists and 12 service points, while Ashley Sigel totalled 10 digs, eight service points and three aces. Whitney Ritz had six kills and three blocks, and Cierra Covalt finished out the match with six kills and nine service points.

The McConnellsburg Lady Spartans increased their season record to 9-3 on Tuesday with a 3-0 win over Northern Bedford. Valerie Green recorded 23 assists for the Spartans as well as five aces, and teammate Emily Watkins tallied 14 kills. Jess Nero added five kills, seven digs and six aces, while Marleigh Jennings rounded out the day with five kills.

After dropping the opening set last Tuesday evening, Everett grabbed victories in the second and third sets, but it was too little too late with Southern Fulton making a late comeback for the 3-2 Sideling Hill League win. Whitney Ritz led the team in kills with 18 while also adding five blocks, eight service points and three aces. Masey Brown recorded seven kills and six service points, and teammate Abby Hawkins contributed 12 assists. Kelsey Truax managed nine digs, nine service points and two aces. Cierra Covalt rounded out the match with 12 service points.
