Income Opportunities Conference For Ag Entrepreneurs at SFHS An income opportunities conference for ag entrepreneurs at Southern Fulton High School will be held November 13, at 8:30 a.m. This conference will feature an array of presentations on marketing, financial management and enterprise development. Afternoon sessions will feature three distinct tracks for “micro-farmers.” Track 1 will focus on edible soybeans, bio-mass crops and oil seed crops; Track 2 will focus on berry and green house production; and Track 3 on sheep, goats and small-scale livestock. The conference will be November 13, beginning at 8:30 a.m., with registration and a cost of $30 per person attending. Christmas Child Shoe Boxes Operation Christmas Child Shoe Boxes, sponsored annually by Samaritan Purse, will be collecting shoe boxes at My Father’s House Ministries, located at 1635 Lincoln Way East, McConnellsburg, from Monday, November 15, thru Sunday, November 21, during the following hours: Monday, Thursday and Saturday, 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.; Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.; and Sunday, noon to 3:00 p.m. Monday, November 22, the boxes will be delivered to the collection center in Waynesboro. SF Musical Tickets On Sale Tickets are on sale for Southern Fulton’s musical “The Wiz.” The show runs Friday, November 5, and Saturday, November 6, 7:00 p.m. both nights at the auditorium. Ticket prices are $5 adults and $3 for students. Tickets can be purchased from a cast member or stopping into the high school office. Tickets will be sold ahead of time until Thursday, November 4, then will be on sale at the door.

Horse Owners’ Course “Things are Changing” is the title of an exciting horse owners’ two-day short course being offered by Penn State Cooperative Extension offices in Mifflin and Juniata counties and the Penn State Extension Equine Natural Working Group. It will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2010, at the Penn State Learning Center-Lewistown from 9:00 a.m. -3:30 p.m. each day. There is a $40 registration fee per person, which includes lunch each day, a soil test kit and an information resource notebook.
