John R. Golden
Born September 17, 1922, in Hancock, he was the son of the late Stanley Wesley and Cornelia Mellott Golden.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in New Guinea, Luzon and the South Philippines.
He was retired from Mack Truck in Hagerstown as a machinist.
He was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Hancock.
He was a very dedicated family man.
He is survived by his wife, Violet P. Jackson Golden, whom he married September 1, 1943, in Hancock; three sons: Robert Dale Golden Sr., Chinocteague, Va.; Dennis K. Golden and wife Sue Duvall, Warfordsburg; Stanley Franklin Golden and wife Geraldine Willey, Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; four daughters: Linda Jean Bishop and husband John Jr., Hancock; Cynthia A. Trail and husband Larry, Warfordsburg; Kathy Sue Hixon and husband Allan Jr., Hancock; Jacqueline Lee Mc- Fadden and husband Dwayne, Needmore; four sisters: Lora Ann Myers, Needmore; Norma Jean Keefer, Hancock; Darla Hartley, Hagestown; Margo Mann of Little Orleans, Md.; two brothers: Herbert Golden, Hancock; David Golden, Hagerstown; 15 grandchildren; a number of stepgrandchildren; 18 greatgrandchildren; a number of step-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Marvin Golden and S. William Golden; a sister, Juanita Dorrier; two grandsons and a granddaughter.
Services were held Wednesday, October 13, at 11:00 a.m, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Hancock. Rev. F. Allan Weatherholt Jr. officiated. Burial, with military services by Tri-State Honor Guard, was in the church cemetery.
Grove Funeral Home, Hancock, was in charge of arrangements.
