Modern Woodmen Youth Year-End Report

Activities for the Needmore Modern Woodmen of America Youth Service Club for 2010 follows. Youth service clubs are a safe and positive environment where young members gain opportunities to volunteer and develop patriotic pride. They are taught strong values and beliefs, along with learning new things and having fun.

During the month of January and February, the group made valentines for the wounded military veterans the VA Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.

During the April meeting, gifts for Mother’s Day were made and a grandmother was adopted.

The first Saturday in May was Join Hands Day. This is a day in May where groups across the country come together to unite generations and make communities better. The group also held a plant-a-tree program.

Gifts for Father’s Day were the June activities, and the group donated a flag to the Warfordsburg Senior Center.

A community beautification service for the community was held in July.

In August, the group marched in the local fire company parade, passing out many items in addition to candy for the children. A family fun day was held where the group enjoyed bowling and food for everyone.

The group does something each month, whether it be a craft or community project. The leaders are Verla and Chris Hill. Anyone interested in joining the club should contact Verla at 573-2370 or Chris at 573-4599.
