Raymond J. Taylor
Raymond J. Taylor, 83, Bedford, formerly of Saxton, died Sunday, September 26, 2010, at Donahoe Manor, Bedford.
He was born on May 23, 1927, in Somerset County, a son of the late Shelly and Alice A. (Becker) Taylor.
He is survived by the following family: a sister and brother Rose, married to James Stevenson, Wells Tannery; and Wallace R. Taylor, married to Wanda, Wells Tannery; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by the following brothers and sisters: Marie Childers, May Harding, Thelma Jean Chil-cote, James L. Taylor, Jordon Taylor, Samuel Taylor, Shelly Taylor Jr. and Cecil Taylor.
He was of the Protestant faith. He worked the Broad Top area coal mines for 25 years and for eight years at the Riddlesburg Coke Ovens.
He enjoyed playing guitar, accordion and singing. He loved being around people and talking on the CB radio. His favorite saying that made people laugh: “I would have been here sooner, but I just got here.”
Services were private and at the convenience of the family.
Akers Funeral Chapel, Saxton, was in charge of arrangements.
