Kermit H. Mellott

Kermit H. Mellott, 89, Mercersburg, died Monday, October 4, 2010, at Shippensburg Health Care Center.

Born April 23, 1921, in Needmore, he was the son of the late Charles Howard and Jesse Cornelia Golden Mellott.

He was a self-employed farmer.

He was a member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, past township supervisor and past member of the Southern Fulton School Board.

He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren, Needmore.

He is survived by his wife, Elda L. Coffman Mellott, whom he married August 5, 1944, at St. Thomas Episcoal Church, Hancock; one daughter, Carolyn White, Mercersburg; two sons: D. Gene Mellott, Big Cove Tan- nery, and M. Lynn Mellott, Mercersburg; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Truax; one brother, Glen C. Mellott, and one granddaughter, Teresa Kay Mellott.

Services will be held Thursday, October 7, at 11:00 a.m., at Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren, 2507 Pleasant Ridge Road, Needmore. Rev. Roger Truax will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, Hancock, Wednesday, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and at the church on Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. For the convenience of the family and friends, the funeral home will be open from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren, 2507 Pleasant Ridge Road, Needmore, PA 17238.
