Student Aid Guides Now Available
Rep. Dick Hess (R-Bedford/ Fulton/Huntingdon) is pleased to inform residents that the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) now has 2011-12 Student Aid Guides available. The free publication contains Pennsylvania’s most comprehensive financial aid information, including facts on the federal student aid process and details on all of Pennsylvania's aid programs, including the need-based State Grant.
“The Student Aid Guide is an excellent resource for students and families to learn about the options that are available to help fund higher education,” Hess said. “With the current economic climate, families are in search of much-needed financial assistance to send their son or daughter to college.”
Each high school counselor’s office will receive one printed copy of the guide with instructions on how to obtain additional copies.
Hess noted that students and families are also encouraged to contact their high school about the availability of Financial Aid Nights during the fall. PHEAA Regional Office financial aid experts facilitate these free informational programs as a way to provide a general overview of the student financial aid process and an opportunity to have individual questions answered.
“The state and federal governments have numerous grant, loan and workstudy programs to reduce the out-of-pocket costs for tuition, books, fees and other higher education costs,” Hess said. “I am hopeful families throughout the 78th District will pick up a copy of this guide and use the information to their benefit.”
The student aid guides are available in print and online. Copies are available at Hess’ Bedford County office, located at 133 S. Richard Street in Bedford, phone 814-623-9097; or his Fulton County office, located at 314 Lincoln Way East, Suite A, in McConnellsburg, phone 717- 485-4430. The guide can also be viewed or downloaded on Hess’ Web site at Dick- Hess.com.
