Congratulations to Paul and Jessica Morningstar on the birth of a son, Raylan Donald, born September 26 in Chambersburg Hospital. His older sister is Regina.

Sympathy and prayers go out to the family of Dan Winter, who passed away last Wednesday, and the families of Kathleen Jones and Grace Souders, who passed away last week, and also the families of Lana Group, Destiny Knable and Matt Weller, who were victims of traffic accidents.

Wanda Truax underwent knee-replacement surgery on Monday in Chambersburg Hospital.

Ben and Diane Leese were married in a private ceremony on September 22. An outdoor reception with family and friends was held October 2 in the home of her sister, Chris, and Christian Hann.

Public Opinion weeky honor roll student-athletes were Sammie Clippinger and Kaili Hockensmith, Forbes Road field hockey; and Libby Strayer, McConnellsburg soccer.

Hustontown/Forbes Road Alumni banquet was held Saturday night at Hustontown Firehall with 124 attending. Three members of the earliest class of 1940 were present.

Tonoloway Primitive Baptist Church held the church building’s 175th anniversary service on Sunday, with Pastor Roger Truax delivering the message and refreshments after the service. Tonoloway is Fulton County’s oldest church and the 10th oldest Baptist church in the United States.

John and Harriet Warsing observed their sixth anniversary on October 9.

Morris Crouse of Hustontown was admitted to Harrisburg Hospital on Saturday for testing and observation after becoming ill at his home.

Bruce and Freda Schade of California visited last week with their longtime friends, Andy and Joyce Washabaugh.

Owen Long of Fort Littleton celebrated his third birthday at a party with family and friends on Sunday. His parents are Dustin Long and Serena Black. His birthday was September 28.

It happened this week: The first Lassie movie, “Lassie Come Home,” premiered in 1943. Although Lassie is a girl, she was played by a male dog, “Pal,” because male collies have lusher coats. Since then, every Lassie in the movie has been a descendant of “Pal.”
