Racing Roundup

By Brad Vores

Lance Dewease continued his strong season with another victory Saturday night.

Dewease’s 10th overall win of the season came in the 40-lap Kenny Weld Memorial at Lincoln Speedway where he took the lead on lap 24 and never looked back en route to the $5,000 plus lap money payday.

Dewease took the lead on lap 24 and defeated Greg Hodnett, Chad Layton, Alan Krimes and Daryn Pittman with Cory Haas, Stevie Smith, Fred Rahmer, Johnny Mackison Jr. and Brian Leppo completing the top 10 finishers.

Mark tuned up for the Williams Grove National Open with a Friday night win in the Outlaw Tuneup for 410 Sprints at Williams Grove Speedway.

Smith scored the win over Aaron Ott, Greg Hodnett, Lance Dewease and Chad Layton.

Adrian Shaffer led all 20 laps to win the 358 Sprint car main over Brian Garland, Chad Trout, Tim Berkheimer and Logan Schuchart.

It was the biggest 358 Late Model race of the year at Trail-Way Speedway on Friday night as the track presented its annual Thunder on the Farm.

But when the 50-lap Late Model main came to a close, it was Brian Lessley and Mike Walls being declared co-winners of the event as they crossed the finish line nearly sideways in a photo finish. Scorers and a video replay were unable to declare an actual winner.

Third was Bobby Beard ahead of Craig Wagaman and Rance Garlock.

Pat Cannon ended a super season at Selinsgrove Speedway with his 10th win of the year in Saturday night’s 358 Sprint car feature. Cannon and the Zane and Vicki Highlands-owned team also clinched his second career track point championship as well.

Lincoln Speedway track champion Logan Schuchart came from 11th to finish in the runner-up spot ahead of Selinsgrove points runner-up Blane Heimbach, Cody Keller and Derek Locke.

Steve Campbell ended the season with a win in the 25-lap Late Model main over Jim Yoder, Dylan Yoder, 2010 track champ Jeff Rine and Kyle Rhoads.

John Stehman wired the 20-lap Super Sportsman feature for his first win of the year Saturday night.

With dry, slick track conditions for a second straight night at the track, passing was at a premium as Stehman took his first win of the year over Mike Enders, Scott Dellinger, Lanny Hake and Russ Mitten.

Bobby Beard won the 358 Late Model feature over DJ Mease, Gene Knaub, Charlie Schaffer and Duane Harbaugh.

Josh Richards won Saturday’s 50-lap Winchester 200 at Winchester Speedway over JT Spence, Rick Eckert, Gary Stuhler and DJ Myers. Frankie Plessinger finished 17th.

That’s a wrap as we close out the month of September. This weekend is the big World of Outlaws-sanctioned Williams Grove National Open as we see if the Posse can keep its winning streak against the WoO alive at the Grove. Greg Hodnett is the defending National Open champion. E-mail reaches me at Bvores@comcast.net.
