Two Drivers Injured
Drivers of two automobiles suffered moderate injuries when their vehicles collided along the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 early Monday morning.
Tito Acevedo, 22, of Hampton, Va., and 46-yearold Johnstown resident Michael Barr were both injured during the September 27 accident at 3:30 a.m. in Bethel Township. Acevedo, according to state police, lost control of his 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee, which struck an embankment, rolled onto its roof and slid into the left lane. An eastbound 2000 Hyundai Elantra driven by Barr struck the Jeep while it was lying on its roof.
Acevedo and Barr were wearing seat belts. Barr’s passenger, Michelle Walters, 45, of Bel Air, Md., was also wearing a seat belt and escaped harm. Both vehicles were disabled as a result of the damage.
State police were assisted on the scene by the Needmore Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Co. and Hancock EMS.
